Personal Assessment

Everybody is different. One has to know where one is right now before going forward. Assessing yourself and your career can be invaluable. This is going to help you figure out exactly where you will fit into the work world and marketplace of today. It will give you invaluable information that you can use in many ways.

Nothing is more important that proper targeting of job objectives. The methodology for doing this is easy, and it’s effective. One needs a coach to work this out, and two brains are always better than one.

I look forward to telling you more and giving you concrete examples of how the process works.

The only way to decide what you want is to understand yourself. Once an individual goes through the defined process of deciding exactly what one wants, then it is possible to move toward selecting job targets.

A job target has three parts: geographical location, size and type of company, and positions that might be a suitable fit within those companies.

Once you have targets, it is essential to analyze your past and present, including your current work-related values, your interests, satisfiers, and bosses, and your special interests and satisfiers and dissatisfiers in past jobs. This especially includes your relationship with prior bosses.

We can look into the future by doing a forty-year vision which will include the ideal scene as one grows older, and how one will deal with economic realities.

It is essential to track trends and to explore new markets. The rate and ferocity of change has accelerated, and in fact the only constancy that we have now is change. The new marketplace of the 21 st Century is vastly different from the world of work as we have known it in the past.

It is estimated that a person may have many careers in a lifetime, some of them going on simultaneously. Personal assessment includes the ability to develop an understanding of one's capacity to handle multiple situations at one time, and whether one is suitable for free lance or a sole proprietorship or needs to find a place in a company environment.

The time of corporation loyalty to an individual has passed. In a sense, everyone is working for themselves, and we can almost think of workers in the workplace as permanent part-timers.

Acute personal assessment while working with a career coach can aid in ascertaining the best work placement in changing economy we now face.
